Working with Clients who are older than you
Across My 4 different educational and business identities I work with Clients or Students from the ages 5 to well into their 70's. Recently I have been giving some thoughts to both the patterns of behaviour and pivotal moments in everyone's lives. You might find it starange that I can predict the pivatol moments in advance for many studnets or even know when their personalities will have truely developed so they will decide what they really want from life and what people they will choose to have in their lives, sometimes 10 or 20 years in advance of when I'm meeting them - it is joked that I am an oracle!
But another side of this for me is the fact that with Marie O'Riordan, The Forever Method, as we work together many times we work with business Clients across a whole spectrum of backgrounds, cultures, and ages we very regularly work with Clients much older than either of us. We are both in our 30's and yet here we are working with people who are traditionally seen at retirement age. How is this possible? There is that well know phrase you "can't teach an old dog new tricks". But it's not about new tricks, sometimes it is about reminding people about the tricks they can already do, the tricks they have forgotten or the tricks they always aspired to have and that maybe got lost in the day to day monotony of life. I have noticed a new wave of life and patterns in society in recent years and even recently a friend was talking about the older generation in their lives and how they have seen the same new wave. With divorce in western society has come a new generation of people who start their lives over again in their 40's and 50's and even 60's. It's like a second rebirth. One of the great benefits of working with two 30 year olds is that they still have that optimism for life. Everything is possible. You can be whatever you want to be and you become the people you hang out with. If you work with younger mentors they see you as fresh, not old. They ask you about all the dreams you had when you were 30 and why you didn't fulfil them. Now you have a second chance to do this. In short we can work with people older than us as we can make them remember what we have forgotten! In terms of what I believe, I feel everything in the world revolves around expression. What I am most interested in is making people express their dreams and desires for life. Interestingly I have attracted many older dyslexic business people in the same way as I attract them as students in my other projects.

Strictly only 10 Student places for each workshop
This November we are continuing with our Confidence Club workshops. The Workshop will be aimed at the age range 7 to 11 (we will as always match the best students to work together).
The Workshop will last 4 hours - our magic formula!
In order to be eligible for a workshop you must first complete our initial interview, this allows us to create an educational profile to match the student, to create a tailor made Workshop and to concentrate on their areas of strengths and weaknesses. We as always believe that everyone has their best way to take in information, process it and express it.
Book online by completing the Book Appointment for inclusion. There will only be 10 Student places.
The workshop will take place on a Saturday to allow students to travel from outside the Dublin area.
We are now moving to Workshops of intense time periods to allow us to focus on Written, Verbal, Media, Creative and Social Expression. We will use a number of different exciting mediums to work with and a broad range of topics. We want to see the students leave with a whole range of new found skills, self-awareness and Confidence. It will be how to present yourself to the world, not only in a school context but way beyond for life. We always focus on skills for life not just for school or exams! As always we will be focusing on each personal student and their Aptitudes Personality and Dreams.
Our aim of the workshop is to support all the students we are already working with and give them that extra boast of confidence in a group setting - a group they feel they belong too! We want every participant to feel more comfortable in who they are, what they are good at and to be able to complete their everyday school work easier and faster!

At the Confidence Club we believe everything in life happens for a reason - 9 times out 10 if you didn't get the course you had applied for it probably wasn't for you anyway! Hard to believe I know when your 17 but with 15 years experience of working in education I know see things very differently to what I did on my own results day - hard to believe that I was disappointed with well over 500 points! I could have done almost any course I wanted in the country that day except the one I had picked - and now I know I never would have been satisfied in life...
At the Confidence Club our aim in our Workshops is to help students to choose the best path for them - find the perfect career based on their Personalities, Apttitudes and Potential. Everyone has to follow their dreams and we would like to see them do this from as early an age as possible, we start at 5! The career might be a highly academic one that needs many traditional school subjects or it may be one that is totally outside the box and needs many skills not covered currently in mainstream education - we don't mind as we cover what's needed! But not everyone is as lucky to start with us at 5 and so we are here too to help older students find their true path even when it means changing direction ..

Why our new Workshops will be 4 hour sessions that see amazing results?
Our new Workshops that will start this August will take into account that we find the magic number to change a students life is 4! Yes in only 4 hours we have seen huge changes in the 500+ students we have worked with over the last 3 and half years at The Homework Club.
In suddenly 4 hours we have had students that have never been able to express themselves finally writing - they have learnt structure they never understood or comprehension skills or suddenly become motivated to enjoy learning - they have discovered who they are - they have made friends for the first time - they suddenly feel someone finally "gets" them - they have had the confidence to join clubs outside school for the first time - they walk into a room and say hi - they stand straighter - they smile!
The Confidence Club Workshops will take place at weekends allowing students to travel from greater distances and achieve huge results in once intense workshop setting - our aims will be much broader as we have always know that exam results are a very small part of the picture in developing lives - the results always just come when everything else is right! Our aim is for every studnet to know who they are and to feel they can be that person...
